Lost my job 4 years ago, and the job market is bad. This is the best info I have read about how to go on with your life. Lots of resources listed and she's very encouraging.

The impetus for writing this book is very interesting. I applaud the author for having the courage to write this book and share her personal struggles which are shared by many boomers.

This timely and well-researched book is an urgent call for action. Everyone should read it. Even if you personally are OK financially, you, without a doubt, know someone in their fifties or older who used to be in good shape financially but now struggles to make ends meet. Retirent income insecurity is that widespread. Lots of.books make.recommendarions on how to.deal with the retirement income crisis. Too often they focus on big systemic fixes to be implemented by others that are too far in the future to be of benefit to people living in financial jeopardy now. 55, Underemployed, and Faking Normal is the only book I've read on the retirement crisis focusing on the here and now. It talks about what you, as an individual living this crisis, can do in the meantime - offering practical solutions and dozens of resources.

Not sure what I was expecting but I read it in 1.5 hrs and didn't feel like I'd learned much from reading it.

This book provides proof that a book is a verb- it does things. A good book informs you, gives you something to think about, and a basis upon which to conclude something. A great book, as this is does something more; it gives you hope and a Geiger counter for finding your path of internal resilience. Sharon

Just what I needed to know. Life happens but I was cruisin' down the river of denial. Good advice to adjust my thinking. Good advice to keep me solvent. For now, I'm okay. We'll see what the future holds when it gets here.

What a brilliant evaluation of the elephant in the room haunting so many of us (who knew there were so many!). Ms. White made me aware that: I'm not alone, the facts and figures provided are proof of the enormity and eventual impact of this issue, but most importantly, the suggestions and recommendations given are already proving to be helpful in relieving this financial/morale-draining situation. Can't wait for a follow-up to this book!

Well written. Individual stories let you know for sure that you aren't alone in your employment struggles.
