This is one of two books by Mr. Wilbur on carving. It is not for the novice carver as he assumes a basic knowledge of carving techniques. There are other books which are much more specific on carving techniques than this one. However, it does explain in fair detail a number of examples of standard details such as egg-and-dart molding and, as such, is both interesting and valuable.

A must buy for intermediate to advanced carvers...beginners may feel a little lost, but save this book as your skills grow. This is a book to have on your bookshelf if you are a carver.

This is a great book for any woodcarver's library.

This work is very descriptive in both word and picture of architectural detail. It demonstrates methods of calculating the plan or measuring the details to permit you to lay out elegant but traditional carving projects. It has been a wonderful source of learning for me and a guide to several carving motifs. The author is publishing a second book that I am anxious to see.

My husband is a woodcarver and specifically listed this book on his Christmas Wish List.

This is an excellent book and I highly recommend it. It is quite large, very thorough, is loaded with colour photos (every second page?) and as well, colour diagrams. It covers everything (that I can think of) with almost step-by-step instructions and many examples from both real life (pictures of buildings, doorways, windows) and the workshop (finished items on the table). I find the colour photos very useful, as they give a good indication of the kind of beauty you can aim for, and the photos of work in progress also very useful. I don't think black and white photos are as good for this kind of book, so I was very happy to see so much vivid colour.I would say you would need to be a bit beyond beginner to get the most out of this, perhaps early novice would be enough.Overall a very useful book, well worth the money and the best I have seen for carving these kinds of things, and I have the Taunton books (which often seem lacking, somehow).

I love this book. I think it is amazing. The different feelings and passions these girls have for dance is great. I love all of the realistic features and word choice. This book is by far the best book I have ever read. So, do buy this book I hope you like it as much as I do.

Love these prints. Exactly as expected. This helped created my botanical print wall with a modest budget.

Great prints! Framed in Golden State Art, 11x14 Photo Frame, Cream Color with Brown Lines, with White Mat for 8x10 Pictures, & Real Glass.

It is what it says- images intended to frame. Each page is printed on one side only, and there are perforations along to spine to easily remove the image you want. It looks like the images came from multiple original botanical texts, so there is some variety. Some of the images include roses, irises, pears, peaches, poppies and crocus. The pages themselves are 8"x 10", but the images themselves can be 7"x9", so if you wanted to trim them down for a smaller frame, that would probably be doable.

Beautiful prints. Unbelievable bargain. They look amazing once framed.

This was exactly what I was looking for, however there are a few minor downfalls. As other reviewers have previously stated, one must be careful when removing the pages. While each page is perforated, you still have to be very cautious when removing a page. I opened the book as widely as I could (the perforations are very close to the spine) and then tried to bend each page before beginning to tear it out. Even with these efforts, they did not come out easily so I then took a pair of kitchen scissors and carefully sliced down the perforated line, which made it much easier to then remove the page. I could not simply cut a page out, again due to the perforated line being so close to the spine.The backgrounds of the pictures are not of uniform color. They range from white to cream to light yellow. This doesn't bother me as much as them not being uniform in size. It's hard to describe but I'll try: all of the pages themselves fit perfectly in an 8X10 frame, but some of the prints, where the color of the background is not white, have a white border around the outside that will show unless you have a mat that fits perfectly. That said, most of the prints are of decent quality and there are only a couple exceptions to that.The final page of the book has two smaller prints meant to be framed individually, and it would be cool if they provided a few more like that, 4x6s and some 5X7s, just for more size options.Overall, I really like these and plan to use many throughout the house, and may even make gifts with the leftovers. Would recommend to anyone looking for subtle, natural decor with a vintage feel.

Beautiful prints. I was nervous to tear them out, but I didn't have any rips. I only wish that they all had matching backgrounds. (They range from white, off-white, to various beige tones. Some had a thin black frame around the print, some had thinner or thicker "mats" sound the edges.) I'm still very happy with how this project turned out.

I love the prints in this book. There are some prints that are herbal or fruit themed that are more suitable to hang in a kitchen, but there are also lots of floral prints. Some of the prints have a white background which are easily framed using an 8 by 10 frame. There are also prints that are on a beige/tan background and others are on a yellow/beige background but it doesn't fill up the entire 8 by 10 page. These are a little more challenging to frame if you don't have them custom framed. I wound up buying an 8 by 10 frame and a 4 by 6 mat and cropped the picture a bit. It was a little work, but they turned out very nice. Plus, I was able to frame 3 pictures for the price of less than one.

This was a great deal. I loved every single illustration in the book. The artwork is classic and gorgeous. The botanical prints are on semi-glossy, thicker-than-average paper. I framed my favorite ones and used them as artwork on the gallery wall in my livingroom. They look fantastic! I'm very happy with this purchase!

Dr. Ronald Youngblood is a graduate of Valparaiso University (BA), Fuller Theological Seminary (BD), and the Dropsie College for Hebrew and Cognate Learning (PhD). I don't know about you, but sometimes when I'm reading through Scripture (especially in the Old Testament), I'll see a name or place I can't pronounce and just gloss over it. I'm sure there is meaning to what I just read, but I don't always take the time to look up the names and places, and I know my reading time could be better understood with the help of a good Bible Dictionary.Nelson's Illustrated Bible Dictionary is a large reference book that is both an encyclopedia and a dictionary. It gives the correct pronunciation of Biblical words, names, and places, and also gives the history behind it as well as a very detailed definition. In addition, the entries are cross-referenced with where they're found in Scripture, and there are many wonderful photos of artifacts and locations. One of the other impressive things about this reference book, is how much detail the entries have. The entry for each book of the Bible includes the theme and outline of the book, cultural background, spiritual significance, and historical setting. Important people in the Bible also have long and detailed entries. There are also categories, such as Biblical Occupation and Trades, which describe the in detail the role of dozens of jobs referred to in the Bible.I was very impressed with the scope and vast information in this book, and I would recommend it to anyone, whether they have a doctorate in theology or simply want to learn more about the Bible. This is a great Bible Dictionary. I have a few ones but when I saw the first time the quality of the material and the easy navigation for the Kindle verstion, I have been using more than the others now. And fortunately I got it on a big discount so I am quite happy with the purchase. This Dictionary has an integrated Bible as well so you don't have to check Bible references outside of the book. You seriously should consider getting this one as part of your regular Bible study.

I find it extremely informative and helpful as I am doing my Bible studies. It explains and describes a lot about the people, their history and their traditions.It has many maps and definitions. I have not yet been unable to not find whatever I may be looking for. It explains what each book of the Bible is about and also a biography of the disciples and apostles and the main characters.

I have used Nelson's so much more often than I originally intended, I'm surprised almost daily. Guided Bible study is why I bought it, but I've used it so much more. I'm looking up things I see almost every day.

This is an overall good Bible dictionary especially when it comes to information about obscure items such as some infrequently mentioned Bible characters and the meanings of their names. This is very helpful for example when you want look at specific names in genealogies in Genesis or Matthew. Some of the rare names in these lists are not covered in many Bible dictionaries. The abundant color pictures are also helpful to someone like me when it comes to wanting to get a glimpse of places I have never seen.

A must have if you are a student of the Bible! Very informative & thorough! Every student should have several resources and this is one of them. I've used mine for years and am now gifting them to the next generation.
