These book are so helpful. Julie writes directly to homeschooling mothers.She speaks directly to the fears and triumphs of home education. I read these books on rotation, year round, first thing in the morning. They help to propel me into the day with a mindfulness of both the responsibility and playfulness homeschooling will require of me. They get me thinking about things in new ways. They affirm. They challenge. Julie shares from a place of experience. All 5 of her children are homeschool success stories. She has a good relationship with her kids and they have good relationships with each other. She's exactly the type of mentor we ought to seek out. She reminds us that we are growing and learning along with our kids and that the process should be enjoyable and full of interest for everyone, even mom. Buy these books. You will not be sorry.

This is the first volume of these that I have purchased. I'm a Catholic Homeschooler, but I also read secular books and reflections on education and can draw much wisdom and encouragement from secular educators. That being said, there were quite a few of these essays that I disagreed with as a Catholic trying education Catholic children. I wasn't looking for a book that would talk about teaching my faith (if so I would have purchased a catholic book :)), but what I was looking for was simple and maybe fun? encouragement for the day to day. Many of the essays, however, were about beliefs and how they can change and how we need to be open to that. I don't agree and found myself saying but, but, but........and getting this nagging feeling that this was actually against what I believe and strive to teach. so this one went in the goodwill pile.

I love these gracious space readings from Julie! I feel like I know her a helpful friend who encourages your homeschooling journey. What's great, is she even reads these on video podcasts if you would like to join a group for encouragement during the week, which as a homeschooling mom of 3, makes a great use of time and space to help remind me why I do what I do. Thankful for these Gracious Space readings so much. You can even join her coaching for more if you would like and find out so much about the Brave Writer Lifestyle, many resources for you as a homeschool parent. These really help so much in our homeschool. They are great for you, no matter if it's your first year homeschooling or if you can't remember what year it is. I love Julie's perspective both and I have found so much value in her books. Just a note. If you're getting the free version available for the Kindle, it DOES NOT contain Willy Pogany's illustrations, even though Amazon's product description still lists him as a contributor.But it is still a great read, especially for free. Written in a very jejune, almost childlike, style. If you like mythology, you will be entertained by this book.As a side, I recommend Edith Hamilton's Mythology for a good primer in both the Greek and Norse myths. Mythology

This is a must read for those readers who enjoy Norse Mythology! The author has brought Odin, Thor, Fryre, Tyr, Loki, and all the other Norse gods to life using modern-day words, that captures some of the most exciting and insightful tales of the ancients. These shirts are a key aspect of the Norse religion, which was seamlessly integrated into Norse society. The stories reinforce Norse beliefs in honor, heroism, hospitality, gift giving, fate, wisdom, the spirit of adventure, and the importance of keeping your word. These are the stories that encouraged and fostered the Vikings Age, an age not only of raiding, but also trading, voyages of discovery, and settlement throughout the world. I recommend this book to readers who are interested in history, and in particular the Vikings, and the Norse belief system.

I was an avid reader/studier of Norse mythology when I was a kid, so I picked this title up on a lark. I am SO glad that I did! This is a fairly comprehensive coverage of the old Norse stories, told in a manner that just seems "right" for the subject matter. Reading these stories, it was easy to imagine myself sitting around the smoky fire of a longhouse, hearing one of the "elders" or skalds telling the tales.The language is a little antiquated, so it might not be the best choice if you're trying to introduce younger kids to the Norse myths, but it's fine for the rest of us. Strongly recommended!

Other than Thor and Odin, I had almost no familiarity with Norse mythology, but decided I wanted to learn more about it. This ended up being one of the best introductions to a new mythology that I have ever read. Written as a narrative (rather than a dictionary of mythological beings, which is what you find in most mythology books), you are able to get a much better picture of the Norse pantheon. I got the Kindle version, so there was none of the artwork mentioned in some of the other reviews, but the storytelling is so good, you don't even really need the pictures.

Mythology of any type is mostly enjoyed for its’ unique taste of the World and its’ value must be set by every individual reader. This collection is well done, entertaining and presumably characteristic of the folk stories of the genre.

I bought this book for my husband for father's day. He loves all things to do with Odin, Thor, Norse Myths, etc. Most books are more geared to a much younger audience, but this book is a happy medium between kids book and history book style of writing. It's worth the money if what you are looking for is a book on the actual stories. My husband is very happy with it and my teenage son is also reading it. Padraic Colum is a wonderful writer.

the book is centered on the mythology of Odin. It has many short stories and covers most of the initial/basic information I was looking for about the Norse myths and bedtime stories. Most stories are suitable for children and all have moral relief for children from very young thru teenage years. It would be an excellent book for 7 to 10 yr olds! boys and girls alike. I especially liked the way LOki is portrayed as mischiveous and sneaky vs. evil.

I don't usually do reviews for products that I buy. I read and enjoyed some of the stories in this book as a boy, and now that I have sons of my own, I was looking for a book that would give them the same experience I had. After purchasing this book, I was not dissappointed.This book contains what I would call the most widely known stories of Thor, Loki, and Odin, as well as several more obscure stories, like the creation of the world, and how Thor lost and regained Mijolnir. I don't know if it ranks highly as a scholarly book, but it truly has been a pleasure to reread the stories I remember, as well as reading several new ones.Put on your Viking helmet, and get ready to read!

I purchased this eText Access Card and when I tried to use it an error message appeared. I figured something was wrong with the Pearson's system so I used the temporary login that Pearson provides for students. Now the temporary access is over and the access code provided by the seller still doesn't work at all. It keeps showing error code 84. I paid over $100 for an access code that doesn't work and Pearson won't replace it with a new working access code because it wasn't purchased from the University. I never write bad reviews but this just isn't righ!!.

Not sure how to rate this product. It does what it says.

I need this because it's required for a class I'm taking, but the software is just horrible. If you don't do anything exactly the way it wants you to do it, it docks you. I hate online classes in general but this one takes the cake. The program is just plain frustrating to use. If you already know how to use these programs, you would be much better off attempting to test out of this program if possible. Credits aren't worth the hassle you have to go through with this.

One Pearson access card is not the same as the other. You need to make sure the ISBN from your instructor matches what Amazon is selling. If you have your course ID and ISBN from Amazon, you can get with Pearson support to make sure they are go together.
