The author writes quite well, and knows the technicalities and culture of liveaboard boating. I downloaded Book 1 based on Amazons recommendation, and was hooked by the settings, most of which we've sailed in our own boat. We had just enjoyed our last season aboard sailing out of Bradenton, discovering and enjoying Cayo Costa, Punta Gorda and points south to Ft Myers. Yes, on a sailboat, not a trawler - but we do stow our fenders in our bow lockers, Ed:). Now eagerly preparing to return to our sailboat to enjoy those cruising grounds once again, I had to followup with Book 2. I was disappointed that Breeze just couldn't get past his terminal stupidity, but that's what makes this story. I'll just have to plunge right into Book 3 and hope that his troubles are a bit less criminal and that he can get past those ashes and enjoy the ladies that gravitate toward this trawler trash:) Give us a hail, Ed, if you spot JAMU, a Leopard 42 Catamaran, lying at anchor in Pelican Bay.

Ed takes you on another blow-by-blow adventure from Florida's gulf coast, through the keys and down island in the Caribbean. Just when you think he's going to let Breeze settle down, north he goes all the way to the Chesapeake Bay.As usual, beautiful ladies and plenty of excitement fill these pages as Breeze gets tangled in all sorts of trouble from drug kingpins to the Cuban Government.Read Trawler Trash first, the pick up this gem of a read.

Leap of Faith is pristine and ready for action, and so is Breeze. His quest to reclaim what belongs to him takes deadly twists and turns. The characters are realistic and memorable. There is plenty of nautical action and suspense as Breeze walks a tightrope between his own survival and doing-the-right-thing. Breeze contemplates the many paths he might take, but his actions are never predictable. The author's narrative on the seas, ports and boating life is mesmerizing. I'm a big fan!

Tough to put Ed Robinson's Trawler Trash books down. I just wanted to keep reading. This "Boat Bum" (which is really isn't) can get into more situations than you would think possible. He doesn't look for trouble, it just finds him. Very interesting Character and a Charmer to boot!

Ed, you've done it again. You have written a spectacular book that kept me on the edge of my seat. I have been to many of the place you mention in these books and its as though you've brought me back. Your descriptions of the locations and the water and the sunsets are spot-on. Thank you. This is a great follow-up to Trawler Trash, and I loved every word of it. Thank you!!! I bought it this morning on Amazon and couldn't put it down all day.

I enjoyed reading it.It was completely different from the first book that I read by Ed.....Ed's other book( Leap of Faith )...is a reality book....although the vast majority of people...probably think he's out in left field....but NO....to me...he is right on target...This book is altogether completely different....it's a novel about a modern day pirate...who ends up having to pay for his sins...Fernando.

I read all four of this series in just about 4 days, could not put them down. This character is mostly my dream identity! Except for the drug dealing, of course. I am a former boat bum turned Marine Surveyor, so I can really identify with the scenarios!

The author's fictional character "Breeze" is a refreshing delight. Finding it in the author's mind to create a character that is an outgoing, dope smuggling, etc. etc. (I don't want to give too much away) modern day Pirate with morals. I'm looking forward to reading about his further adventures. As he has in the past, Ed leaves us with a cliffhanger. I'm already looking forward to reading the next continuing adventure.

It was a good preparation, because this is where the memoir has its roots. After all, you come and go and you try to run away, but the roots are still there, oblivious to your desperate efforts.Born in a Yemeni family, Ayelet Tsabari is exploring those roots, in a society which is not accepting her identity willingly, and often devours its inhabitants. 'In a society that idealized Western beauty standard rarely found within its vicinity - blong, light, skinned, blue eyed - I looked all wrong'. It tooks time until she had the strength to reclaim her origin, against an official narrative too often settled to erase everything that was too different, too Oriental. But while assuming that maybe 'more dancing, less thinking this is the answer', she is happy - at least for a while - to play the multi-cultural, multi-identity card, often accepting those identities assigned to her. 'I enjoyed being claimed by so many nationalities. I like the idea of having a facial structure that is malleable, shifting, as though it makes me a citizen of the world. In my desperate wish to belong, I accept every invitation'.Every piece of her life is a small farewell to this assumed/assigned identity though. From the army service to the beaches of India and Thailand, while crossing the States and trying to settle in Canada. Every stage is well explored and documented, with the careful observation of the born writer, which doesn't mean the one who is always writer. There are those skills that makes you a writer, and the fine observation and the need to understand is part of it. 'As an immigrant, my identity was already under review, but as a writer whose sense of self was strongly tied to language, a part of me felt erased. I stopped writing altogether'. Leaving a home, means more than buying that one way ticket to nowhere, but coping with the dramatic challenges of entering a new world and its rules, including grammar rules. It takes courage and ambition and craziness and courage again to conquer your fears and start writing again in a new language. But the gift of being a writer might be stronger than the circumstances. 'English was a place I fled to, an act of reinvention that echoed the anonymity and freedom I had felt whe migrating - a new country, eliciting the same exhilariating thrill of stepping outside my comfort zone'.But first, you should experience the deepest lows of leaving, dare to play with your life a little bit, take the risk of not writing and not trusting yourself. Her travels brought her closer to understanding those meanings of being home and away, leaving while still staying. The travels were part of her journey through grasping the sense of life, before starting to put the words on paper.  I have purchased and reviewed maybe 4 or 5 audio programs from this same author and this is probably my favorite. Why?Because it does such a wonderful job of taking the most challenging areas of Spanish grammar and making them very easy for a native English speaker to understand. And without giving you the feeling that you are learning grammar in a classroom setting. In fact, when I am learning Spanish grammar with this program I feel more like I’m just learning conversational Spanish as opposed to learning the rules or structure of a language.I will now go over some of the topics or areas of Spanish grammar that are covered in this program . One topic that is covered is the “conditional” tense in Spanish. And that teaches how to say phrases in Spanish such as:If I were to win the lottery, I would do X or Y.OrIf I were rich, I would do X or Y.There also a couple of lessons which taught me the “conditional perfect” tense in Spanish as opposed to just the “conditional” tense in Spanish. And by learning how to properly use the “conditional tense” in Spanish, I now know how to express myself if I want to say phrases like:I would’ve spokenShe would have walked.They would have hired him.We would’ve invited more people to the party, etc.I also feel very comfortable using plural commands in Spanish now. So instead of only being able to tell just one person to be seated I can now tell several people to be seated. I found it to be exceptional for intermediate-level learners. I bought Learn Intermediate Spanish (Lessons 31 to 38) which are now a part of this program. Once again, another great product from a publisher who continues to create some of the finest audio programs for learning a foreign language. As I posted and asked in my review of Learn Intermediate Spanish (Lessons 31 to 38), when is this publisher going to begin offering programs that teach languages other than Spanish and Italian? I'd love to learn some other romance languages with this method or maybe even German.

I already have some of the intermediate lessons in this set. I have the ones with the orange audiobook cover which are Lessons 31 to 38. If I liked those lessons then I must say that I love these. There are so many lessons in this bundle to help me make progress.By the way, the creator of this program says don't use the ebook transcript with the program and to just use the audio to develop the best pronunciation and accent. Despite what he says, I find the ebook transcript very helpful because it helps me visually reinforce my new vocabulary words.

I've tried several other audio programs, but so far I like this one the best. It systematically increases the difficulty and the speakers are native. I haven't finished the intermediate yet, but just finished the beginning version.

What a relief that all of the levels from this Spanish tutorial are now available here and for less money than what this company charges on their site. From what I can gather, the bonus gifts offered here are basically the same.

I was really surprised that there is so much content included and the content is definitely world class.

I have been wanting to learn the Spanish subjunctive for a really long time. Although the main program consists of 35 audio Spanish lessons with each lesson lasting about 30 minutes, there are 10 lessons that are specifically designed to teach everything about the Spanish subjunctive. From the Spanish subjunctive mood when expressing desire or preference, Spanish subjunctive using phrases such as "es mejor que" and "es necesario que", Spanish subjunctive with phrases expressing possibility, all the way to the Spanish subjunctive substituting the infinitive with the subjunctive mood. This program is exactly what I needed to help me learn the Spanish subjunctive. Another thing I really like about this Spanish program is that there are 10 bonus Spanish lessons (lessons A to J) which cover a lot of colloquial Spanish.

I got more than what I expected out of this bundle. The narration was great. Everything is easily broken down to understand and use correctly. There is absolutely no way that you would not advance your Spanish fluency with this book. This author did a great job with the information, techniques, training and practice guides he provided. I have listened to quite a few books by other authors and didn't enjoy them as much as this one. In fact, I think I will listen to the fist bundle as soon as I can! I was given a free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This is a re-read for me. I have this story in a paper back and when I wanted to read it my husband was cranky and wanted the lights off. So, to combat that I purchased it on the kindle. Well this story is about a young Saxon woman name Eada who was captured by the Norman's upon invasion. Her captor soon to be protector was named Drogo. Together they March across England battling for the new king William and another Norman seeking their deaths. Through it all they fall in love but like other story lines they keep their feelings to themselves.I gave it a 4 star because of how lovely and at times intense it can be. Like I mentioned this is a re-read for me. Eada is a strong willed young lady which I like in the female characters and so is Drogo. Even though they are both strong will they are both kind and decent people. Very likable characters. I do recommend this read to who ever is interested in the time's of war but, who also likes a good decent romance story. There are intimate scenes but not written in a vulgar fashion.

I don’t know how many times I’ve read this title, and passed it by, but these are the stories tht are so amazing, and full of depth when you read them, tht you lose yourself 8n them. Great book. Couldn’t put it down. Really superior skill.

One of Howell's better novels. Some I have enjoyed and some were almost painful to get through. This is worth the read if you like this time period setting for romance. Some say too nice, not believeable, but I must say Romance novelists these days are kind of "damned if they do and damned if they dont" so to speak. If the guy is too nice, they are not being realistic enough. If the guy, in this case a Norman invaider (let's face it those invasions weren't pretty and women did not fair well), is more realistically portrayed then the book is "too violent" and women are treated in a manner "unexceptable by today's standards." Howell chose to make him of the "too nice" variety. It did not interfere with my enjoyment of the story. Hey, it's romance. I do want to be able to loose myself but I also get the need for some suspension of disbelief. They key is being able to strike a balance between these two objectives, which I think Howell does fairly well in this case. I will say that if you come across Howell books that get consistently poor ratings, believe them. If they are pretty good, as is the case with many of the reviews of this book, you can also believe them. I have found the ratings to be pretty spot on.

This is good read! I loved the h/h as well as the secondary characters. I did not give a five rating because it dragged on a little. But it was a sweet love story. I would recommend this read.

Unconquered started off as an interesting historical read but quickly turned into a quick wrapped up ending. Drogo and Eada became frustrating, with Eada constantly running off and putting herself in danger, how many times can he save her? I liked the secondary characters such as Brun, May and Ivo, but would of liked to see a more detailed ending. All of a sudden Drogo and Eada where back at Eada's property and we didnt get to see what happened to the rest of the group. What happened to her family? Did May, Ivo and Brun react to Eada all of a sudden being a rich land owner? The reason I gave this book only three stars is it just seemed a little too unrealistic but I did find some of the descriptions of the battles and the trek to London interesting.

I chose a 5 star rating because of the well written account of the history timeline along with the beautiful love story. There were several surprise twists did not see coming as well.

Hannah Howell s one of my favorite authors and while this book does not have the same witty dialogue that her highland series does it was still a good read. The heroine was strong, another thing I like about her books, the hero was appropriately masculine and the sidekicks were sidekicks. All in all I like it.

I really enjoyed this story and look forward to more from Ms Howell. I truly have enjoyed every story by this author and plan to get more books by her.

I almost didn't read this book because of the cliché cover. The book is more than the author just walking the length of the Nile. The author does a great job of explaining what he's going through and giving you just enough history of each location and nation that he's walking through to make it much more than just an adventure story. I think it was interesting to see the trials and pitfalls that he had to go through just to cross borders and areas in certain African nations. If I had to ask for more I wish a detailed map would've been included in the book to see where he was stage by stage. The author also does a great job of not glorifying himself as this unbelievable person doing unbelievable feats. The truth is this guy spent the better half of the year walking in through Africa and doesn't have many negative things to say besides taking pity on certain situations. Overall a terrific book and would recommend overwhelming. Also after doing a bit more research it was documented on tv as well on Animal plant.

I have been in search of another great travel story since I finished The Long Way Round and The Long Way Down by Ewan McGregor and Charlie Boorman and this is most definitely it. Levison Wood makes Bear Gryll's look like an amateur with his fantastic story of his trek up the Nile - crocodiles, pythons, close encounters with rebel forces, this book has it all

Walking the Nile is just okay. Wood's writing is serviceable, but certainly not compelling. There's just no "oomph" to it, nothing to make you want to keep turning the pages. While ostensibly a book about walking the distance of the Nile, it's much more a book about how messed up all the African nations he traveled through are. At that, it's not a bad book by any means, but again, the writing isn't compelling enough to hold my interest. Most of the actual walking isn't even included in the book. Instead, Wood mostly includes discussions of the cities he sees and occasionally the villages.I'm sure many will find it a worthwhile read, but for me it was just okay.

This was a really interesting read, I learned so much about the areas along the Nile, the people, vegetation, animals, previous explorers and political problems still ongoing in a lot of the areas.Levison Wood, a former British soldier, a writer and explorer decides he wants to be the first to have walked the whole length of the Nile, a journey that would take him 4,250 miles and through many diverse landscapes. When asked why he wanted to do this journey, his ultimate response was “The Nile was there and I wanted to walk it.”He had Guides that walked with him through different parts of the continent, needing to change as the languages did. Friends and reporters would occasionally walk small part with him. There was Tragedy, fear and amazement to witness throughout this journey. This is a journey well worth reading.

I was not familiar with Levison Wood before beginning this book and was a bit skeptical about the real peril involved in this trek in this era of satellite communication. Wood's cover photo which makes him appear to be a youthful Robert Shaw did nothing to persuade me this might be nothing more than a prose version of reality television. I was absolutely wrong. As the book progressed I became more and more impressed with the fortitude and persistence exhibited by Woods and his ability to weave a compelling tale of an arduous trip. Any final doubts vanished when I found out one of his companions tragically died during the journey. Wood also deals with such weighty topics as ecological disasters, rampant HIV disease, religious fanaticism, and tribal genocide. I love well written travelogues. It's my ambition to walk the length of Italy and write a book about it someday. Mr Wood writes a compelling book about walking through different countries with various degrees of danger. There is a section of the Nile he has to miss because of the war situations. So in reality he was unable to walk the entire Nile. He makes lots of friendships with local people who are often friendly and helpful. It restores my faith in the basic decency of many people. This book is well written and fun.

I found this book a very readable story of a modern day adventurer retracing the routes of multiple explorers who were in search of the Niles source . The author mixed the current human situation of the region with history and geology to help give the reader some new insights. I would have liked to have the author compare and contrast his experiences with those of Baker, Speke, Burton, etc. I am a fan of 19th Century Nile River explorers. This book will go with that collection.

This book is really scary and at times funny. It has a sweeping history and geography lesson of Japan that weaves nicely with the stories, and makes it even more interesting and frightful; that is, to think it all really exists. The author Thomas Bauerle, apparently a transplant from the United States, but living in Japan for a number of years, brings an unusual perspective to the well worn Ghost genres, that most Americans will appreciate even more. Because it's in another country, that strangeness adds to the overall effect. This would be a good book to accompany a College Course in Japanese Literature and/or Film. Highly recommended, especially on Kindle.

When it comes to ghosts, poltergeists, wandering spirits and the like, most people are sitting on the skeptical fence. Mr. Bauerle’s book, written from the point of view of people who have experienced supernatural beings, is alive with tales of the dead. The author’s personal experience should be enough, but he has done exhaustive research into ghost stories told by his acquaintances and students. As far as a scientific explanation of these creepy events, his take is that science is a worthy endeavor but there is a lot that is just plain inexplicable. Some of the ghosts seem to be harmless, but the malevolent hands that drowned 36 schoolgirls in Ise Bay, as recounted in “The Tragedy at Tsu City,” will surely send chills up the reader’s spine. After reading "Kanashibari," I think even the most dedicated nonbeliever will just have to jump off the skeptical fence and look over his/her shoulder from time to time.

A Haunting book (pun intended) I could not put it down. Well written and insightful.

Kanashibari is An interesting collection of Gothic tales for enthusiasts of the supernatural and for those interested in Japan and Japanese culture. If monsters and ghost stories are expressions of humanity's fears, then this collection will give readers insight into the anxieties troubling the people of Japan. Of special interest are the experiences of foreigners whose contact with the local supernatural is informed, like more routine experiences, by their being slightly separate and outside the customs and tradition of their host country. To know a country, one must know its ghosts. The prose is chillingly direct and this collection will give even the most hardened skeptic plenty to ponder over.

Great read. A fascinating look into the super natural and paranormal as told through the experiences of people who encountered these ghosts and spirits first hand. Also, a very good description of the history and cultural beliefs in Japan regarding the paranormal. I highly recommended it for anyone interested in Japan.
