Very concise and interesting to describe the life, thoughts, and stories of Alexander the Great in a relatively short tale. Suggest readers frequently check on line the locations of mentioned ancient cities in a map to better understand Alexander's marching. The title of Chapter Three "Conquest of Persia" seems misleading. Not yet. The definite defeat the Persian Empire should be at Gaugamela a few years later. A more suitable title of Chapter Three might be "Toward the conquest of Persia" or "Toward the collapse of the Persian Empire". In doing so the title of Chapter Five might change to "The New King of Asia".
A competent look at an interesting life - compressed into an hour's read.There seems to have been a great deal of detail known of the man and his conquests, presumably compiled by scribes of the time, to compile such information today.There's some detail about tactitics and strategies - but not much about: logistics, how the armies travelled, communications, how they lived and ate while traveling vast distances, etc.......

It's not a deep dive, and Alexander's lasting legacy is mentioned only at high level. Not a bad place to start to get the major events down in your head.
It always amazes me that these people from ancient times could achieve so much at such a young age. But then their lifespans were often only into the 30s and 40s. Many of these were great leaders when they were in their teens! Now days, it is taking longer and longer to simply become an adult, let along become great.

Great little read. I liked the quotes at the beginning of each chapter. I highly recommend Hourly History to everyone!!
